My name is Tim Barney, and I tell stories.

I've been enamored by film and television for as long as I can remember. And later, as I honed my craft, I grew zealous for the stage and the page (writing), as well as, the entirety of the production process from conception to full fruition.

I work hard to develop my craft and improve and advance my skills each and every day; seeking out some of the most distinguished and accomplished professionals in entertainment to learn from and be mentored by.

What sets me apart from many?

I believe that one of the main reasons I've been described as "real" and "grounded" with "golden instincts" (on the stage) and a gift in improv, comes from my myriad experiences and diverse education and work history:

I’ve lived as a pilgrim, hiking 500 miles on a solo journey across the width of Spain (entirely, on foot) on the Camino de Santiago.

I’ve known sacrifice, hunger, failing health, and the fear of losing house and home.

I’ve gone from being a struggling kid, failing classes through school, to being on the Dean’s List at university (every term) and graduating with a 3.83 GPA.

I attained a B.S. in Dietetics at Marshall University, and an A.A.S. in Electronic Media (focusing on broadcast journalism and end-to-end radio and TV production) from Ohio University.

I also completed a 6-Week Summer Acting Intensive with Michael Howard Studios of New York City, and a 4-Week Summer Filmmaking Intensive with the New York Film Academy.

As a lifelong learner, I can't pass up great opportunities to gain new skills or insights. More recently, I received certificates in Bartending and also in Brewing.

I served as a missionary and humanitarian across the United States (usually, aiding in hurricane relief efforts) and across the world, serving across the entire country of Vietnam with the Free Wheelchair Mission, and also in various parts of Europe in myriad capacities and occupations.

I directed a soccer league and helped to grow struggling youth outreach endeavors of many kinds (successfully).

More recently, I worked full-time for 3.5 years in big-ticket item, high-volume sales in Northeastern Kentucky before moving to New York City to pursue a life in the entertainment industry, full time.

If you would like to learn more about me or if you believe I might be a great addition to your team/project, drop me a line! I’d love to hear about your passion project(s) and learn what I could do to bring your vision to life.
